Health Insurance
Health insurance is not simply a matter of a perk with your job. In many cases, it is a matter of necessity. Especially if you have a young family, it is essential that you are in a position to cover the costs should the worst happen.
However, not all Health plans are created equal. You should shop around and read the policy very thoroughly before signing up. Many exclusions could affect the premium of a policy, so be very clear about what you are receiving prior to taking a policy out. The subject of excesses will affect the policy. The excess is an amount that you, the policy holder, agrees to pay before the benefit from the policy kicks in. Whilst taking a high excess at the outset could save you money at the beginning, having large excess to pay when you need to meet a medical expense could prove almost as painful as the medical procedure!
Most health plans will ask that you disclose existing medical conditions. Please don't be tempted to hide anything, because failure to disclose all relevant facts could negate the policy and leave you high and dry, just when you need help the most. It is better to know where you stand at the outset, so you can deal with all eventualities properly.
Read the plan carefully so that you fully understand exactly what is covered. If you are unsure, then ask for full explanations before putting pen to paper. Please do not assume just because your last insurer clearly states a certain condition, that your new insurer reads situations the same way.
The condition under which you claim may require after care, such as physiotherapy.
Check to make sure that the plan you are considering takes things like
this into consideration.
